Hope

Hope is a curse
Foul offspring of faith and desire

Believing what you want
'Cause you want it to be true
What more selfish thing could we do

Is there anything worse
Blindly drowning, asking help of a liar

Senses: sallow and gaunt
Descend stairs dark and blue
Take the hand of ignorance, While it takes a piece of you

All I know is: on my own
Sure feels good to be back home

Hope's a twisted nurse
Holds a candle while she puts out the fire

tells you, "It will be ok,
Just kneel down and pray,
You can feel good now, it's only your soul to pay"
